FIRE BOAT CHECK OFF FOR MEMORIAL DAY

Friday, May 26, 2017  The Huntersville Fire Boat, out on Lake Norman today checking off gear & preparing for #MemorialDay. If you need us, we'll be ready. The PIO also spoke with WBTV News about boating safety and reminds everyone that ALL kids under 13 must wear a life vest when out on the lake. The lake can be unforgiving and we recommend that everyone wear one - we have our's on! #StaySafeOnLKN #WearIt

   


 

MULTIPLE CARS ON FIRE

Thursday, May 25, 2017  At 3:45 Station 1 & Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle fire on Sam Furr Rd at Northcross Centre Court in front of Marshals. Our Engine 1 on scene first with Heavy fire on arrival involving multiple vehicles.
**UPDATE: Investigators spoke with the owner of the VW (the vehicle of origin). It was determined to be an accidental fire. Please note that c this fire is NOT related in ANY way to the Target fire or other fires / incidents in the area.**

TARGET FIRE

Monday, May 22, 2017  Shortly after 5 pm this evening, our Stations 1, 2 & Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue were dispatched to the Target store (Northcross Shopping Center) for a building fire. Upon arrival fire crews found heavy smoke inside the store and an active fire in the grocery portion of the store being held by the sprinkler system. Crews stretched 2 attack lines inside the building while other crews conducted a complete search for occupants. No customers or employees were found and the fire was controlled within 24 minutes. A total of 4 patients were identified and cared for by MEDIC & North Mecklenburg Volunteer Rescue Squad. All four patients complained of smoke inhalation but refused transport. VENT 1 (Charlotte Fire) also responded to the scene & assisted with smoke removal.

Currently fire investigators are in the store conducting a fire cause & origin investigation. All Huntersville Fire crews are now taking up & clearing from the scene. Target will he closed for some time.

LAKE NORMAN CALLS

Saturday, May 20, 2017  Huntersville Station 2 & our Fire boat are clearing from the lake. Earlier we responded for two missing kids (a 5yo & a 10yo) who went missing, while tubing. Kids were missing just over 15 mins. Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue's Fire Boat arrived first and were able to relocate the missing kids with their parents. No injuries, kids are safe and all fire / rescue crews are returning to their stations.
We've been busier than normal on the lakes so far this year and it's not even Memorial Day yet. Please be careful & responsible when on the water. #LKN #OneTownOneTeam #StaySafeOnLakeNorman

Thursday, May 18, 2017  We want to circle back and thank Firehouse Subs Gilead Rd. for feeding 30+ responders (with very little notice) during the Lake Norman search this week. The divers, boat crews, police officers and firefighters appreciated it.We also want to thank the Huntersville Police Department for supporting our Department throughout the entire incident and for allowing us to use their Command Post. They were right alongside us all day assisting. They even sent officers to pick up lunch & dinner for us. #Teamwork#OneTownOneTeam

   


 

RECOVERY MADE ON LAKE NORMAN

Tuesday, May 16, 2017  Following a long exhaustive search using sonar and the dive team, the Search & recovery operations concluded just after 6pm. Crews were able to recover the missing boater from the water, deceased. 

NC Wildlife is investigating the accident.

BOAT ACCIDENT ON LAKE NORMAN

Monday, May 15, 2017   Our Fire Boat and Engine 2 are clearing from a boat accident on Lake Norman. Just after 11pm, two boats collided on the lake just off Weatherly Lane in Huntersville. Each boat held two occupants, three of the four occupants were located by responders and taken to shore to be transported by MEDIC to CMC-Main. One occupant remains missing. Searches of the lake were conducted to include the use of the CMPD Police Helicopter and Sonar equipment.Charlotte Fire Department's Dive Team responded to the scene to assist us along with Denver Fire DepartmentCornelius-Lemley Fire RescueCornelius Police Department and Huntersville Police Department
